Alright, we’ve talked all week about moving away from cold outreach and toward something that actually works.
Now it’s time to try it as part of our Call to Action Friday! And in the spirit of Live Local, this won't be a full overhaul; we will not be building a whole new system, but just one simple action. Actionable. Doable. Effective.
The One Video Challenge
Here’s your assignment for today.
Do one video. That’s it.

Step 1: Pick a Local Business You Like
A business you genuinely enjoy, be sure it is a place you’ve been or someone doing good work.
Step 2: Record a Quick Video
Nothing fancy.
30 to 60 seconds.
Talk about:
• What they do
• Why you like them
• Why other people should check them out and where to find them
No script, keep it simple, short and to the point.
Step 3: Post It and Tag Them
Put it on your social and tag the business.
Now you’ve done something most entrepreneurs never do…You’ve given value first, publicly.
Step 4: Watch What Happens
Now, one of two things could happen: they respond, or they don't, either way, your audience is getting to know them, you are adding value, and you genuinely want to see this local business succeed.
If they respond, that becomes your foot in the door, a warm introduction of yourself as someone who is rooting for them to do well. And it opens the opportunity to do an interview-style video with them, meet them, and make a genuine connection with someone.
Step 5: Follow-Up
Be sure once you make the connection, you remain in contact with them. They were important enough to reach out to; why not stay in collaboration with them?
Simple messages, "I enjoyed connecting, please let me know if there is anyone else you are looking to connect with, I can see if I can help." "I hope business is still doing well, let me know if you have anything coming up or specials I can send out to my audience."
There are an array of ways to continue adding value to local business owners in your sphere to help them continue to do well.
Why This Works
Cold outreach asks for attention.
This creates it.
Cold calls interrupt people.
This supports them.
Cold leads don’t know you.
This makes you memorable.
And the best part?
It doesn’t feel like marketing.
It feels like helping...I have spent the last 16 years helping local business owners in my community, making a positive impact.
Your Move
Do one video today. Just one.
Because the entrepreneurs who grow the fastest aren’t the ones making the most calls; They’re the ones building the most relationships.
