When Less is More?

I make a pretty solid cheeseburger; it helps that I have one of those grills that has been through all of the flavors, a little grease, a little character, which adds just a touch of flavor. And during the summer, I have been known to be seen flipping burgers on with one hand, dictating a reply email with the other. It happens, summer pulls us in many different directions as we are on a constant search for work - life balance.
And I stood there in flip flops trying to be a dad, a husband, and a business owner all in the same ninety seconds, I recognized that this is what we are all going through.

Summer does something strange to entrepreneurs and business owners, as the work doesn't stop, the leads don't stop, but suddenly our whole audience is living half their life outside, phone in pocket, brain somewhere near a body of water. They are not sitting at a desk waiting for your wisdom, yet we need to keep their attention and somehow stay front of mind with them.
And if you also feel that drift happening and are starting to feel anxious, you are losing your audience, please don't just post more or write longer emails, or do salsa dances trying to keep their attention...unless of course you sell salsa dancing lessons, then by all means carry on.
This week in the blog, I want to preach the opposite; I want you to tighten up, simplify, and make your messages quick and digestible. On one hand, this will be a sigh of relief as you can write less and get more from your message; however, it also means more thought and intention goes into your content/emails/newsletters in order to get your message across with half the wording.
Your audience is not ignoring you this summer; they are just busy living, and the business owners who understand that are about to have a productive few months while everyone else gets louder and wonders why nobody is listening.
