Your Friends Aren't the Problem

Let's start with the thing every entrepreneur feels: there aren't enough leads and there is rarely just one way to get more.
The pipeline looks thin, the phone isn't ringing the way it should, you've poured money into ads that brought you tire-kickers and silence. You've sent the cold messages that sit there unread, and somewhere in the back of your mind is the quiet math that keeps you up at night, the kind that asks where the next client is actually going to come from in time to cover the mortgage.
If you're a contractor, an insurance agent, a real estate agent, or any local service professional who lives and dies by who you can reach this month, you know this feeling in your bones (or wallet). The work is rewarding, and the reviews are positive, but the steady stream of new people who need what you do never quite shows up on its own.

Here's what makes it worse, most of the advice out there tells you to do more of the stuff that already isn't working, the same advice that I got when I started my real estate career: spend more on ads and make your 100 cold calls. Send more cold emails, hustle harder, post more "fun" things to show you are cool. It's all volume, no warmth, and it treats people like targets instead of humans.
I want to name the real problem that I had when I was getting started plainly, because naming it is the first step to solving it.
The problem isn't that you're bad at your job, I mean I got Rookie of the Year for my brokerage that first year. The problem is that you don't have a consistent, repeatable way to meet new people who actually want to be allies and referral partners.
That's it. That's the whole thing. Leads aren't a talent problem, they're a system problem.
And I know that because I lived it.
Early in my real estate career, I hit a wall that broke up my momentum, my confidence, and had me second-guessing my new career opportunity.
For today, I just want you to sit with the honest version of the problem: not enough leads and no reliable way to meet new people. And a whole industry telling you the answer is to grind harder instead of smarter.
I often identify this in my talks and appearances as the two lies and a truth: buy leads, cold leads to become a referral marketer "someday," but the truth is you can find leads and referral partners right now. Let me assure you that there's a better way, and it's built on something you already have access to.
