As the saying goes, the holidays are a time of joy, giving, laughter — and unless you’re selling toys, it’s the sales slump season. But that’s exactly why this time of year can be a goldmine for warm marketers. When the buying slows, the watching begins. People are still scrolling, still following, still deciding who they’ll trust with their time and money when the time to buy rolls around. The visibility and consistency you show now often decide who they remember and choose later.

While most businesses hit pause, warm marketers see opportunity. This is the season to check in, to reconnect, and to genuinely give value without expectation. Share local highlights, thank your supporters, and lift others up in your community. When people are planning budgets and resolutions, they remember the brands and faces that showed up with kindness and authenticity.

Here are three ways to build momentum when business is slow:

  1. Send “no-ask” messages. Check in with past clients, partners, or fellow business owners simply to say hello or share a resource — no pitch, just presence.

  2. Feature others in your content. Spotlight local partners, holiday events (SO many holiday events going on), or small businesses. Their audiences will see you, and you’ll strengthen community ties.

  3. Create an year-end gratitude campaign Invite your followers to tag someone who made their year better — it boosts engagement and positions you as the connector. Or list things and/or people you are grateful for in the year review. There are lots of oppurtunities to be grateful to finish the year and invite your audience along.

The truth is, momentum isn’t built by sales — it’s built by connection. Every coffee chat, supportive comment, or shared post adds another layer of trust. You’re not planting ads — you’re planting roots. And when those holiday lights come down, you’ll find your audience already knows, likes, and trusts you. That’s when warm marketing turns into warm results.

So this season, skip the hard sell and focus on the soft skills: gratitude, generosity, and genuine presence. Keep showing up, even when it’s quiet — because they’re still watching. And when their schedule clears and they’re ready to take action, you’ll be the first person they think of.
