Don't Fall for Summer

I know you are juggling a lot right now, you are trying to get summer sales, you are busy and the finances this time of year will keep your business strong. But a gentle reminder this week that your September is being decided right now.
And I don't say this to stress you out, in fact, just the opposite; we can start doing little bits of planning now that will pay dividends in the Fall...instead of doing nothing now and then hustling hard in the Fall to keep your connections and finances afloat.
I talked to a contractor last fall who told me October just dried up on him, no calls, no referrals, nothing in the pipeline. He blamed the season, he blamed the economy, he blamed everything except the real culprit:
His July.

Here's what I've learned after fifteen years of referral marketing. The fall doesn't surprise anyone, it just delivers whatever you planted in the summer. The real estate agents, insurance agents, and contractors who have a packed September aren't lucky, they spent July and August planting seeds while everyone else was working on the now.
And I get it, summer feels like the time to sell as much as possible, while also trying to balance life. The kids are home, half your clients are at the beach, it's easy to tell yourself you'll ramp back up after Labor Day.
But referrals don't work on your timeline. A relationship you invest in this week turns into a phone call in October or a conversation you skip this week turns into a slow month you'll blame on the season.
Summer isn't just the money-making season, it's the planting season. And the plan you make in the next few days matters more than anything you do in September.
This week I'm walking through exactly what that looks like. Wednesday, I'll show you the specific seeds to plant right now, the kind that take minutes today and turn into business this fall. No ads, no cold calls, just the warm market that's already around you.
For now, be honest with yourself about one thing: What did your last September look like? And what did the July before it look like? Tell me in the comments. I bet the two have more in common than you thought.
And to help you stay organized and continue planning without the stress, I am still giving away the Content Scheduler: https://www.livelocalwarmmarketing.com/gift-box
