The Real Reason You Won't Do the Pre-Work
All week I've laid out the pre-work for Fall event season. Know who you're looking for. Warm them up online before you meet. Walk in with something to offer instead of just a card. All of these are not only free, but practical and effective.
You read all of it. So let me ask the real question: Are you actually going to do it?
Be honest, because I already know most of us won't. Not because it's hard, but because something always "gets in the way." So instead of another pep talk, let's do the opposite. Let's name the reasons you won't. I don't want to feel as if I am talking into the void here, we both know the best advice is the kind that can be taken.

Maybe it's time that is the factor. You've got showings and closings and a phone that won't stop, and fifteen minutes of commenting on someone's posts feels like the thing that can wait.
Maybe it feels fake. Reaching out to someone online before an event feels calculated, and you'd rather just wing it in person and be genuine.
Maybe it's the awkwardness. You don't love the idea of engaging with a stranger's content and then walking up to them at an event. (Actually, you would be surprised by how warm these contacts are; they know someone you know and things click).
Or maybe, if we're being real, it's that you don't fully believe it'll work, so it's hard to spend effort on it now for a payoff you can't see yet.
Every one of those is reasonable. I've both used and heard all of them myself.
But look at that list. Notice what none of them are. Not one of them is a lack of information; you know exactly what to do this week. And none of them cost you any money or in-depth planning.
That's the thing about this stage: when you already know the moves and still aren't making them, the problem was never the moves. It's not an information gap. It's an accountability gap. And you don't close an accountability gap with another blog post or another free download. You close it by talking to someone who will look at your actual situation and help you get out of your own way.
That's what I do. If you're staring at Fall event season knowing you should prepare and knowing you probably won't, let's have a real conversation about it.
Not a pitch, but fifteen minutes on what's actually stopping you and what to do first. You can grab a time here: https://calendly.com/livelocalteam/15-minute-marketing-analysis
So tell me, and be honest. Which reason on that list is the one that's really yours?
